Write, Call, or Email Your Senators and Representatives!

I usually focus on topics related to publishing your writing and earning an income from it, however I feel the need to deviate from that a little bit today so have patience with me.

Be sure to make your voice heard to our government by writing, emailing, or calling your senators and representatives to let them know what you think about this proposed bail out bill.  It will be voted on yet again this evening.  We need to let them know what the American people think, and remind them that we are watching them.

Be sure to let your voice be heard!

Blogging for Non-Profit Organizations

There are many advantages to blogging that non-profit organizations can easily overlook. They depend heavily upon funding from outside or public sources and are driven by their members and volunteers. Blogs can help them considerably. They offer a way to get the word out about their purpose and organization. They also provide a way to increase their web-presence and therefore reach many potential members, volunteers, and donors that they otherwise would never be able to. A blog can also serve as a permanent fund raiser of sorts for the group by placing targeted affiliate ads on the site and keeping them off of their main web page. Many non-profits also have a requirement to educate the public about their issues and field to maintain their non-profit status. A blog can also fill this need by giving them a place to publish educational articles and posts; in this same way it can also replace the need for a printed or emailed newsletter and can give members and volunteers instant access to the most up-to-date information about the organization and their activities, events, fund raisers, and needs. Don't over look the power of the Internet and a blog. They offer many benefits to businesses and non-profit organizations as well.

Sell Your Photos

While this may be a little off topic of earning by writing, another alternative to freelance and earn a little cash online is by selling your photos. There are many sites that will either sell your photos for you, or allow you to sell them through their site for a commission or membership fee. However, if you are selling them and paying a fee, be sure to check out the site thoroughly BEFORE you sign up. There are far too many scams out there! A couple of good sites to sell your photos are either Photo Stock Plus or Shutter Stock . There are many more sites out there as well. So the next time you see something that would make a great photo, capture it and then sell the image online for a profit. This would also be a great way to start building a portfolio of your work and making a name for yourself.
